No account required

There's no such thing as “Cannon account.” You don't have to sign up, enter a password, or confirm your email.

When you launch Cannon, a unique random Device ID is assigned to you. Share it with any other Cannon user to let them message you.

Works over push notifications

The only permission Cannon needs is the permission to show push notifications. That's because Cannon messages are push notifications. Swipe it—and it's gone forever.

Your messages aren't stored on the Cannon servers, and there is no chat history to restore or steal.

Anonymous and free

I created Cannon to scratch a particular itch: how close can an online chat get to an physical conversation? A spoken word leaves no trace except for the thought it ignites in the listeners's mind. You don't need an account to talk to someone. And it doesn't cost money to speak.

This is why Cannon is anonymous and free, simply as a consequence of its nature. If you want to support development or simply say “Thank you,” please consider donating using the QR code on the left.

FAQ

How do I share my contact? Open the burger menu and click Copy link. Share this link with anyone you want to message you.

How do I add a new contact? Open the burger menu and click New contact. Paste the Device ID of the contact and enter a Display name for the contact.
Or ask the person to share the link from their Cannon app and follow this link.

How to I delete a contact? On Contacts page, click on the contact and click on the contact name in the sidebar header.
Then check Delete box and click Save.

Where's my chat history? That's the beauty of it—there isn't chat history in Cannon.

Can I enter my own Device ID? I'll probably add this function when Cannon becomes more popular.

Can I use the same Device ID on different devices? No, you can't. But I'm thinking about offering a way to claim and own a Device ID.

What platforms does Cannon work on? Cannon works in any modern browser, on desktop and mobile devices.
However, it works best on Android where you can install it directly Chrome and use as a regular app.
iOS support is the worst because Apple hates PWA.

Is there an official Cannon app for mobile or desktop? Cannon is a PWA which is a web app that's installable as a regular app.
For example, to install it on Android, open app.cannon-chat.online with Chrome and tap Install Cannon.
Shipping packages for app stores is tedious and expensive, so I don't have plans to do it at this point.

I'm seeing a blank page on iOS. Try opening app.cannon-chat.online in Safari, adding the page to your home screen, and running it from there.

Why can't I reply directly through the push notification? It works only on Android, sorry.

How do I suggest a feature or report a bug? Feel free to message me on Cannon or join the official Cannon Telegram group.
